If it is an emergency
Call your local emergency number
For anything that could be life-threatening, telephone the emergency service for the country you are in, or go to the nearest emergency department. Emergency numbers differ by country, so we do not print a number here unless it has been confirmed for this health system’s service area.
This website is not monitored for emergencies. Messages, appointment requests and forms sent here do not reach anyone immediately and must never be used to ask for urgent help.
While you wait for help
- Stay with the person if it is safe to do so.
- Answer the call handler's questions and follow their instructions exactly.
- Unlock the door and clear the way for the ambulance crew.
- Have any medicines, allergies and recent letters to hand if you can.
- Do not give food or drink unless the call handler tells you to.
Not an emergency but you still need help soon? Start with find care.
Recognising an emergency
Signs that need emergency help straight away
This is general information, not a diagnosis. If you are worried that someone's life is at risk, treat it as an emergency and call for help. You do not need to be certain.
- Chest pain, pressure or tightness
- Difficulty breathing or choking
- Heavy bleeding that will not stop
- Sudden weakness, drooping face or trouble speaking
- Loss of consciousness, or being difficult to wake
- A fit or seizure that is not stopping
- A serious injury, burn or fall
- Thoughts of ending your life or harming yourself
If you are supporting someone else, stay with them where it is safe to do so and follow the instructions given by the emergency call handler.

Our emergency department information
Emergency department details are not published yet
Emergency department locations, opening arrangements, capability and ambulance arrangements are not published on this site because they have not been confirmed for publication. We do not estimate them. Never travel to a site based on assumption. Call your local emergency number and follow their direction.
- What we will never show here
- Live wait times, a trauma designation, ambulance coverage, or a claim of round-the-clock capability, unless each one has been verified and dated.
- Why that matters
- People make travel decisions from these pages while under stress. An unverified detail can send someone to the wrong place at the worst possible moment.
- If you are already on your way
- Emergency call handlers can direct you to the right facility. For non-urgent questions afterwards, you can contact us.
Urgent, but not an emergency
When you need to be seen soon
Urgent care is for problems that need attention quickly but are not life-threatening, for example a minor injury, a worsening infection, or a symptom you do not want to leave until next week.
Urgent care details are not published yet
Because urgent care arrangements vary by site and by hour, none are listed until they have been confirmed. Contact your usual clinician or the after-hours service available where you live. If the situation worsens, treat it as an emergency.
